General Cable, leader in the national cable market, has just presented an innovative technical solution: the Sectorflex line, which meets the demand for greater productivity, the more exacting quality and safety requirements that will come into effect with the new Regulations on Low Voltage and the need to reduce costs in cable installation. This line is fruit of the research work of the company’s R&D+innovation.

The Sectorflex solution is presented to the sector in an eight-page, full colour leaflet with the slogan “gaining space and time” and a profusion of illustrations, that describes the main features and advantages of this type of cable. Sectorflex cables from General Cable have flexible conductors in a sectoral form instead of the usual circular form, in sections of over 35 mm².

Among the chief advantages of these cables in comparison with traditional cables, their smaller diameter and lighter weight are of particular interest. By eliminating the empty spaces between conductors, diameter is reduced on an average of 10 % and weight by 11 %. These reductions also result in greater ease of installation and cable laying. It is also possible to increase the available length of a section for the same coil, and this reduces the number of couplings needed in the installation and the number of coils to be used in its supply.

Another of their most outstanding characteristics is that they are compatible with conventional terminals and accessories. This is due to the fact that, on preparing the insulation ends, the flexible sectoral conductor naturally recovers a circular form.  Sectorflex has greater manoeuvrability, as has been shown in technical tests. Its service life is longer, since it suffers less deterioration in laying and installation.

These cables have the same section and electric features as class five flexible circular cables and are more environmentally friendly, since they use a lesser amount of natural resources. Sectorflex type cables are offered in the well-known lines Segurfoc-331, Exzhellent XXI, Energy RV-K Foc and Armigron from General Cable.
